Within the framework of the MINDtheGEPs project activities, two online Open Forums have been realised. The first one, entitled ‘Advancing Gender Equality in Research – Insights & Synergies from the Elsevier 2024 Report’, took place on 27th November 2024. During this event, Ylann Schemm, VP Corporate Responsibility & Executive Director of Elsevier Foundation, will present key data from Elsevier’s 2024 Gender Report, which examines two decades of gender equality progress in research and innovation. The presentation was followed by a panel discussion with research leaders on reshaping evaluation practices to further support gender equality (to watch the video of the initiative click here).

The second event, entitled ‘Achieving gender balance – Strategies for recruitment, retention & career progression’, took place on 5th December 2024. This meeting was characterised by two presentations. Ewa Stoecker, Senior Specialist at Jagiellonian University, outlined the rationale for undertaking training activities related to supporting women’s career progression and, in particular, the training support developed by the Safe JU training team at Jagiellonian University. Małgorzata Grzelewska, Rector of the same university, presented a systemic solution to include adequate gender representation in the university’s recruitment committees. This procedure is called OTMR (Open, Transparent, Merit-based Recruitment) and has been active at Jagiellonian University since 2022 (watch the video of the initiative).
