During #EUGreenWeek, a 90-minute interactive webinar was held on June 9, 2026, titled “Climate Risks and Biodiversity for European Resilience and a Nature-Positive Economy“. The webinar bringing together three flagship Horizon Europe projects – SPARCCLE, CROSSEU, and ACCREU Project – to explore the crucial links between climate risks, biodiversity loss, and economic resilience.
As Europe advances the EUGreenDeal, EUClimateLaw, and MissionAdaptation Mission Implementation Platform for Adaptation to Climate Change (MIP4Adapt), understanding how biodiversity loss compounds socioeconomic and financial vulnerabilities is becoming increasingly important for shaping effective policies and sustainable transitions.
This webinar was focused to bridge the gap between advanced climate risk assessment and actionable economic policy, offering insights into how science can better support decision-making for a more resilient future. The CROSSEU project contribution was presented by Kirsten Halsnæs (Technical University of Denmark), who delivered a presentation on “Measuring socioeconomic impacts of climate hazards in European hotspots for Drought, Heat, Storms, Floods and sectoral spillovers”. Gabriele Quinti took part in the webinar for Knowledge and Innovation.
