On May 25, 2026, a presentation titled “Managing climate transition” based on some research results of the CROSSEU project has been held by Andrea Declich at the 20th Conference on Society and Materials (SAM20). SAM20 has been hosted at the Sart Tilman campus of the University of Liège (BE). The SAM conferences have always been an international forum for exchanging new concepts and issues that connect materials and society from different perspectives, ranging from social to engineering sciences, from thermodynamics over life cycle assessment to ethics and economy. In this framework, the SAM conferences also host papers focused on climate transition, mitigation and adaptation (M&A) to climate change, circular economy. The paper presented the research results obtained in the framework of WP4 of CROSSEU, highlighting the obstacles met by M&A climate change policies. These policies, that shape the context in which the innovation of concerning materials take place, and the related obstacles, are therefore highly relevant for those who carry out research in the materials field.
