SPEAKERS
Lennart Olsson is Professor of Geography at Lund University and was the founding Director of LUCSUS (Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies) from the inception in 2000 until August 2016.
Wiebe Bijker is Professor-II at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, Norwegian University of Science and Technology and emeritus Professor of Technology & Society at Maastricht University, The Netherlands.
As the scale and complexity of societal challenges are constantly growing, integrating the best available knowledge from the social and the natural sciences, as well as from different social sciences becomes increasingly important.
The experience of interdisciplinary research is however laden with difficulties, and risks not fully repaying the great effort involved in putting together large research groups around a common set of problems.
With the contribution of two leading scholars in highly interdisciplinary fields, this webinar aimed at discussing reasons and routes for interdisciplinary work that would point to methodological and practical lines of action, while resting on sound epistemological foundations.
The seminar was held on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the death of Giancarlo Quaranta, founding member of Knowledge & Innovation, School of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Research.
